REMOTE ACCESS 

Remote resources can be accessed by WRLA members outside of the library. Visit the WRLA Library eResources page after logging in. 

  • Rangefindr —  A tool to help lawyers find criminal sentencing ranges. Click a few tags that describe the kinds of cases you're looking for (such as assault cases where the accused is a first offender) and rangefindr.ca tells you what sentences were imposed in those cases. 
  • HeinOnline  Full text articles from legal periodicals, dictionaries, and legislative material. LSO members must contact the Great Library at refstaff@lso.ca to obtain login information. 
  • AccessCLE — Search and download full-text LSO CLE/CPD articles since 2004. No login required
  • vLex Collection (Irwin Law ebooks, Vincent AI, and Canada Core) — The largest collection of legal and regulatory information in the world. Search over 130,000,000 documents from 100 countries in one place.
  • Ebook PDFs of authoritative textbooks that can be downloaded directly from our website.

These databases are accessible on six desktop computers located within the library. Experienced staff are available to assist with research and provide instruction on the use of databases. WRLA Members may request for research to be done by library staff on their behalf. Contact us to submit your question.

  • Lexis Context — Analyses the Lexis Advance Quicklaw case law database to reveal court and judge motion ruling analytics, and the specific language they use.
  • Lexis Practical Guidance — Forms, precedents, and practice notes.
  • Westlaw Canada — Canadian case law, legislation, and commentary. Subscription packages include Criminal Source, Estates & Trusts Source, Family Source, Law Source and select divisions of O'Brien's Encyclopedia of Forms.
  • Westlaw Practical Law — Forms, precedents, and practice notes.
  • ProView — Texts, looseleafs, and annotations. 
  • Wrongful Dismissal Database
