2020 Opening of Courts & Presentation of the Coulter A. Osborne Award

The Trustees of the Waterloo Region Law Association and Waterloo Region Judiciary are pleased to invite you to virtually join us at the annual Opening of the Courts Ceremony.

The Opening of the Courts traditionally marks the start of a new year in the legal community and courthouse, and this year is special as the Board of the Waterloo Region Law Association is pleased to announce that they will be presenting the 2020 Coulter A. Osborne award to:

Brennan J. Smart

Brennan Smart is a criminal trial lawyer in Kitchener. He has over 28 years of criminal defence law experience.

Brennan has mentored a steady succession of law students and articling students. He has supported with advice, referrals, and assistance many of the young lawyers who have come to the Region seeking to start a criminal law practice.  

Brennan has served on the boards of several community organizations including Conestoga College. He was the former Waterloo representative at the Criminal Lawyers' Association. He has contributed to continuing legal education in our community, including appearing on a number of panels.  Mr. Smart has also been a regular panelist for Law Day.
