This program contains 2 hr 30 min EDI, 1 hr Professionalism, 30 min Substantive

The Coalition of Muslim Women of KW’s Anti-Islamophobia training aims to provide organizations with knowledge, skills and resources to better serve their Muslim clients and staff.

This two-part online training will cover:

1. Understanding Canadian Muslims and their Faith

Statistical Profile of Muslims in Canada and Waterloo Region
Introduction to religio-cultural practices within the Canadian Muslim communities relevant to an organizational setting

2. Understanding Islamophobia

History and context of Islamophobia in Canada, how is it enabled and disseminated
Characteristics and manifestations of Islamophobia
Impact of Islamophobia on Muslim communities, particularly for women, youth

3. Addressing Islamophobia at the Systemic, Institutional and Inter-personal levels

Understanding your responsibilities as an employer and service provider to establish and maintain a discrimination and harassment free workplace
Models and tools for institutions and individuals to address Islamophobia at all levels
Case scenarios on how to deal with Islamophobic incidents at work and institutional and interpersonal levels
