Chair: John Webster, Gowling WLG LLP
It started like any other day, but this time when I looked in the mirror, I paused to take more than a fleeting glance. I hardly recognized myself. I was unwell, but overlooked it because I had blinders on. Something had to change. I took a slow and sustainable approach, without looking for the quick fix. There were setbacks along the way. In time I saw a practical and achievable way to work towards balance between eight categories of wellness: Mental, Physical, Spiritual, Economic, Environmental, Artistic, Intellectual and Social. I'm filled with optimism about the journey to come. I wrote a book about my journey (Accidentally Well) and do a weekly podcast to explore wellness topics (Let’s Be Well Together).
The practical approach includes identifying areas of wellness that are important to us, then identifying activities that foster wellness in each area, then doing wellness check-ins. It’s about making informed decisions instead of letting things happen to us, where wellness activities fall to the wayside without us even noticing.
Please join John Webster as he discusses his wellness journey and how he works toward achieving balance in his life.
